Super Man is an eau de parfum, 50 ml, with around 20% fragrance oil. We charge €25 for it, the same price across all of our fragrances, no matter which original inspired them. Free shipping from €49 and delivery in 2 to 5 working days.

Ultra Male is sold as an eau de toilette intense, which is heavier than a standard eau de toilette. Ours is built as an eau de parfum to match that weight rather than a light eau de cologne.

Longevity is 5 to 10 hours. Made with French oils, small batches, filled by hand, vegan and cruelty free. If Super Man is not what you expected, you have 15 days to exchange it for a different alternative from the range.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Super Man is our perfume dupe of Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male, the sweeter, louder reading of the classic blue bottle. Pear, lavender, mint, bergamot and lemon open it, cinnamon, clary sage and caraway sit in the middle notes stage, and black vanilla pod, amber, patchouli and cedar hold the base.

The pear is what hits first, and it stays sweet all the way through. This is not a subtle fragrance: projection is strong for the first few hours and the trail follows you around a room. The cinnamon-caraway accord bridges the sweet pear opening into the vanilla base. Younger crowd, night time, and it works better in cold weather than in July, though one spray still holds up on a warm summer night out.

Some people look for a clone of this scent, others just want a version that smells like the original for everyday wear; either way, Super Man is one of our perfume dupes built for exactly that. The difference between these labels is not quality but how much perfume oil sits in the bottle. That decides how long the scent stays on your skin and how far it travels.

EDT Eau de Toilette 5 to 15% perfume oil

The lightest of the three. It opens fresh and fast, but fades after three to five hours. Pleasant in heat and at the office, as long as you top it up during the day.

Our choiceEDP Eau de Parfum ~20% perfume oil

The middle ground that became the standard. It lasts six to eight hours, one spray in the morning is enough, and the scent stays recognisable into the evening without filling the room.

EXDP Extrait de Parfum 20 to 40% perfume oil

The densest form, worn in drops, and it can last over ten hours. In return it loses that easy opening, and the price per bottle climbs the most.

Why we chose EDP

Every Chez Pierre perfume is made in Eau de Parfum concentration, with 20% perfume oil. That is not by accident.

An eau de toilette would mean carrying the bottle with you and refreshing the scent after lunch. An extrait would push the price up, and only someone counting hours would notice the gain. EDP sits exactly in between: one spray in the morning carries the whole working day, and the scent opens and develops instead of settling on the skin at once.

So we don't make lighter and pricier versions of the same scent. We make one, in the concentration where that scent works best.

Three things describe every perfume, whatever the price or the name on the bottle. Once you separate them, it is easier to say what you actually want from a scent.

Longevity

How many hours the scent stays on skin

Measured from the moment you spray to the moment you can no longer smell it up close. It depends on the concentration, but also on your skin: on dry skin every perfume lasts less, so a dab of unscented cream before spraying helps.

Projection

How far it travels around you

Strongest in the first hour, it tells you how much space the scent takes up. Big projection is great for evenings and colder days, while at the office or in a meeting it usually gets in the way more than it helps.

Sillage

The trail you leave behind

Pronounced „see-yazh“, it means the trail a scent leaves behind you. It is the reason someone turns around as you pass. A perfume can last a long time and still leave a small trail, and the other way round.

Strong is not the same as good. A perfume with huge projection quickly tires both you and the people around you, while one without any trail stays your own private thing.

That is why every one of our perfume descriptions says how it wears, not only how it smells.

One spray is plenty, two is a statement. It is masculine in the obvious sense, made primarily for men, though the sweet pear side means plenty of women pick it up as well.

Choose our Inspiration

Jean Paul Gaultier is a French fashion house, and Ultra Male came out in 2015 as the sweeter flanker to Le Male, in the same torso shaped bottle but in blue. It sits closer to accessible luxury than to a small boutique name, since Jean Paul Gaultier is known across its fragrances for playful, unconventional bottles.

Most people search for it simply as Ultra Male, or describe it as the sweet blue Gaultier, which is how it usually gets recommended. Read any review of Ultra Male and the sweet pear opening is what most people mention first.
