🇫🇷 French Perfumes!😶‍🌫 Long Lasting and Intense Scents!👍 Fraction of the Cost of Designer Fragrances

PRODUCT DETAILS

Bel Homme is an eau de parfum, 50 ml, with roughly 20% fragrance oil. We charge €25 for it, the same as for anything else on the shelf. Delivery takes 2 to 5 working days and is free on orders from €49.

Jean Paul Gaultier sells Le Beau as an eau de parfum, and Bel Homme matches that concentration rather than a lighter eau de toilette. It sits below an extrait de parfum in weight, which keeps the coconut and pineapple blend easy to wear rather than overwhelming.

Longevity is 5 to 8 hours, with the tonka bean and amber lasting longest on skin. Handmade in small batches, vegan and cruelty free. Not for you? Bel Homme can be exchanged within 15 days.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Bel Homme is our perfume dupe of Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau, one of the more tropical dupes in our range, built around the pineapple and coconut accord that made the original stand out from the usual aromatic men's fragrances. It opens on pineapple, iris, ginger and cypress, moves into coconut with a drier wood underneath, then settles into tonka bean, sandalwood and amber.

The pineapple and coconut up top smell like sun cream more than fruit, sweet and warm rather than sharp. Once the coconut settles in, it turns drier and closer to skin, and by the base the tonka bean take over with a soft, sweet finish. People who try it often say it smells like a beach holiday rather than a boardroom scent, and that it leans softer than most fragrances built strictly for men.

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau is the fragrance this dupe follows most closely, and Bel Homme is one of the dupes we hear about most from customers who already own other Jean Paul Gaultier perfumes. We built it as a coconut-forward dupe rather than a generic tropical dupe, because the original's pineapple and coconut middle notes are what people actually remember. It's intense in the first hour and settles into something strong but wearable by the afternoon, closer to the original than most alternatives on the market, which makes it a dependable dupe for warm-weather wear.

Perfume concentration

EDT, EDP or EXDP - what you are actually buying

The difference between these labels is not quality but how much perfume oil sits in the bottle. That decides how long the scent stays on your skin and how far it travels.

EDT Eau de Toilette 5 to 15% perfume oil

The lightest of the three. It opens fresh and fast, but fades after three to five hours. Pleasant in heat and at the office, as long as you top it up during the day.

Our choiceEDP Eau de Parfum ~20% perfume oil

The middle ground that became the standard. It lasts six to eight hours, one spray in the morning is enough, and the scent stays recognisable into the evening without filling the room.

EXDP Extrait de Parfum 20 to 40% perfume oil

The densest form, worn in drops, and it can last over ten hours. In return it loses that easy opening, and the price per bottle climbs the most.

Why we chose EDP

Every Chez Pierre perfume is made in Eau de Parfum concentration, with 20% perfume oil. That is not by accident.

An eau de toilette would mean carrying the bottle with you and refreshing the scent after lunch. An extrait would push the price up, and only someone counting hours would notice the gain. EDP sits exactly in between: one spray in the morning carries the whole working day, and the scent opens and develops instead of settling on the skin at once.

So we don't make lighter and pricier versions of the same scent. We make one, in the concentration where that scent works best.

How a perfume is measured

Longevity, projection and sillage

Three things describe every perfume, whatever the price or the name on the bottle. Once you separate them, it is easier to say what you actually want from a scent.

01

Longevity

How many hours the scent stays on skin

Measured from the moment you spray to the moment you can no longer smell it up close. It depends on the concentration, but also on your skin: on dry skin every perfume lasts less, so a dab of unscented cream before spraying helps.

02

Projection

How far it travels around you

Strongest in the first hour, it tells you how much space the scent takes up. Big projection is great for evenings and colder days, while at the office or in a meeting it usually gets in the way more than it helps.

03

Sillage

The trail you leave behind

Pronounced „see-yazh“, it means the trail a scent leaves behind you. It is the reason someone turns around as you pass. A perfume can last a long time and still leave a small trail, and the other way round.

Strong is not the same as good. A perfume with huge projection quickly tires both you and the people around you, while one without any trail stays your own private thing.

That is why every one of our perfume descriptions says how it wears, not only how it smells.

Bel Homme

Inspired by: Le Beau, Jean Paul Gaultier

Bel Homme is built for summer, when the pineapple and coconut mix makes sense against warm skin, though the woody base keeps it wearable into early autumn evenings too. Winter is really the only season it struggles with. Summer is when it performs best, though a light layer still works for an early autumn evening out.

Jean Paul Gaultier marketed Le Beau to men, and Bel Homme keeps that direction, made for him rather than for her, though it isn't aggressively masculine and the iris in the opening gives it a soft, almost feminine edge that some women enjoy too.

Choose our Inspiration

Jean Paul Gaultier is a French house that built its name on playful bottle designs as much as on any single fragrance family, and the brand has a loyal following in the luxury fragrance space for scents that don't take themselves too seriously. Le Beau arrived as the brand's answer to the tropical, gourmand direction other niche and designer houses were exploring.

Most people shorten it to Le Beau rather than using the full Jean Paul Gaultier name, and the pineapple and coconut accord is what every review and every dupe on the market is chasing.

Why choose us?

Bel Homme is our alternative to Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau, similar to the original rather than a strict clone, made with our own fragrance oil blend and filled by hand in small batches.

We only make it as an eau de parfum, because the pineapple and coconut blend needs that concentration to hold together. Reviews so far single out the coconut opening as the closest match to the original. If it doesn't smell like what you remember, send it back within 15 days and we will exchange it.
