Falling Stars comes as a 50 ml eau de parfum, built at roughly 20% fragrance oil. It costs €25, the same price on every scent we make, whatever the original behind it. Orders from €49 ship free and arrive in 2 to 5 working days.

City of Stars is usually found as an extrait de parfum, so Falling Stars is built at a stronger strength instead, closer to that intensity than a light eau de cologne.

It lasts 6 to 10 hours on skin and carries through a full afternoon on most skin types. French fragrance oils, handmade in small batches, vegan and cruelty free. You get 15 days to exchange it if it isn't right for you.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Falling Stars is our perfume dupe of City of Stars by Louis Vuitton, a unisex scent for anyone who wants a bright citrus opening that turns soft and musky underneath. It opens on blood orange, lime, blood mandarin, lemon and bergamot, moves into a tiare flower heart, and settles on powdery notes, musk and sandalwood.

The citrus rush is loud for the first twenty minutes or so, sharp and a little bitter from the blood orange and lime together, then the florals soften everything into something creamier. By the dry-down it's mostly powdery musk and sandalwood, warm rather than sweet, and the trail stays close and skin-like rather than loud.

The tiare heart works like a bridge between the citrus and the powdery base, and it's the accord most people notice once the initial rush of blood orange calms down. Some wear it as a stronger masculine layer, others find it reads more feminine on their skin, and both are right, since that middle notes stage is genuinely open to either. The difference between these labels is not quality but how much perfume oil sits in the bottle. That decides how long the scent stays on your skin and how far it travels.

EDT Eau de Toilette 5 to 15% perfume oil

The lightest of the three. It opens fresh and fast, but fades after three to five hours. Pleasant in heat and at the office, as long as you top it up during the day.

The middle ground that became the standard. It lasts six to eight hours, one spray in the morning is enough, and the scent stays recognisable into the evening without filling the room.

EXDP Extrait de Parfum 20 to 40% perfume oil

The densest form, worn in drops, and it can last over ten hours. In return it loses that easy opening, and the price per bottle climbs the most.

Every Chez Pierre perfume is made in Eau de Parfum concentration, with 20% perfume oil. That is not by accident.

An eau de toilette would mean carrying the bottle with you and refreshing the scent after lunch. An extrait would push the price up, and only someone counting hours would notice the gain. EDP sits exactly in between: one spray in the morning carries the whole working day, and the scent opens and develops instead of settling on the skin at once.

So we don't make lighter and pricier versions of the same scent. We make one, in the concentration where that scent works best.

Measured from the moment you spray to the moment you can no longer smell it up close. It depends on the concentration, but also on your skin: on dry skin every perfume lasts less, so a dab of unscented cream before spraying helps.

Strongest in the first hour, it tells you how much space the scent takes up. Big projection is great for evenings and colder days, while at the office or in a meeting it usually gets in the way more than it helps.
