🇫🇷 French Perfumes!😶‍🌫 Long Lasting and Intense Scents!👍 Fraction of the Cost of Designer Fragrances

PRODUCT DETAILS

Smooth Jazz is an eau de parfum in a 50 ml bottle, with roughly 20% fragrance oil, made with French fragrance oils in small batches. It costs €25, the same price as every other scent in the range. There is free shipping on orders from €49, and delivery takes 2 to 5 working days.

Jazz Club is sold as an eau de parfum, so Smooth Jazz matches that concentration: fuller than a typical eau de toilette, and a step below a full extrait de parfum.

Longevity is 6 to 8 hours, driven by the vanilla and rum in the base, with strong sillage and projection for the first couple of hours before it settles closer to the skin. Vegan, cruelty free, handmade, and you have 15 days to exchange it if it's not for you.

NOTES

Top notes

Pink pepper, neroli, lemon

Heart notes

Rum, vetiver, clary sage

Base notes

Tobacco leaf, vanilla, styrax

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Smooth Jazz is our perfume dupe of Jazz Club from the Maison Margiela Replica line, made for anyone who loves that boozy, smoky bar scent as an everyday fragrance rather than a rare treat. It opens on pink pepper, neroli and lemon, moves through rum, vetiver and clary sage, and settles into tobacco leaf, vanilla and styrax.

The rum and tobacco accord is what most people notice first, warm and a little smoky, close to how the original opens. The pink pepper keeps the opening from feeling too sweet, and as it dries down the vanilla and styrax take over, leaving a smooth, boozy warmth that lasts well into the evening.

Smooth Jazz is not the only Jazz Club fragrance dupe on the market chasing that boozy tobacco base. Ours leans harder into the rum and vanilla than most of the perfumes built around this fragrance profile, and the pink pepper in the top notes still reads unmistakably like the original.

Perfume concentration

EDT, EDP or EXDP - what you are actually buying

The difference between these labels is not quality but how much perfume oil sits in the bottle. That decides how long the scent stays on your skin and how far it travels.

EDT Eau de Toilette 5 to 15% perfume oil

The lightest of the three. It opens fresh and fast, but fades after three to five hours. Pleasant in heat and at the office, as long as you top it up during the day.

Our choiceEDP Eau de Parfum ~20% perfume oil

The middle ground that became the standard. It lasts six to eight hours, one spray in the morning is enough, and the scent stays recognisable into the evening without filling the room.

EXDP Extrait de Parfum 20 to 40% perfume oil

The densest form, worn in drops, and it can last over ten hours. In return it loses that easy opening, and the price per bottle climbs the most.

Why we chose EDP

Every Chez Pierre perfume is made in Eau de Parfum concentration, with 20% perfume oil. That is not by accident.

An eau de toilette would mean carrying the bottle with you and refreshing the scent after lunch. An extrait would push the price up, and only someone counting hours would notice the gain. EDP sits exactly in between: one spray in the morning carries the whole working day, and the scent opens and develops instead of settling on the skin at once.

So we don't make lighter and pricier versions of the same scent. We make one, in the concentration where that scent works best.

How a perfume is measured

Longevity, projection and sillage

Three things describe every perfume, whatever the price or the name on the bottle. Once you separate them, it is easier to say what you actually want from a scent.

01

Longevity

How many hours the scent stays on skin

Measured from the moment you spray to the moment you can no longer smell it up close. It depends on the concentration, but also on your skin: on dry skin every perfume lasts less, so a dab of unscented cream before spraying helps.

02

Projection

How far it travels around you

Strongest in the first hour, it tells you how much space the scent takes up. Big projection is great for evenings and colder days, while at the office or in a meeting it usually gets in the way more than it helps.

03

Sillage

The trail you leave behind

Pronounced „see-yazh“, it means the trail a scent leaves behind you. It is the reason someone turns around as you pass. A perfume can last a long time and still leave a small trail, and the other way round.

Strong is not the same as good. A perfume with huge projection quickly tires both you and the people around you, while one without any trail stays your own private thing.

That is why every one of our perfume descriptions says how it wears, not only how it smells.

Smooth Jazz

Inspired by: Jazz Club, Maison Margiela Replica

Smooth Jazz comes into its own from autumn into winter, when the boozy, smoky character has somewhere to sit. In summer it can run a little heavy, so one spray in the evening is usually enough. Read a review of the original and the same thing comes up: it is a cold-weather fragrance that people still find excuses to wear on a warm summer night.

The pink pepper hits first, along with a citrus lift from the neroli and lemon, then the vanilla and tobacco base takes over and holds through a whole evening. It is worn mostly as a masculine scent, though a boozy, smoky profile has never been a men-only taste, so plenty of women reach for it as well. Call it close to unisex: it works for him or for her, and a winter evening is when it makes the most sense either way.

Choose our Inspiration

Maison Margiela is a French luxury, designer fashion house with a niche fragrance side, and the Replica line ties each fragrance to a specific memory, Jazz Club being the smoky New York bar. The vanilla-laced tobacco base is what most reviewers mention first, alongside the rum note that gives it a boozy edge. Read any review of Jazz Club, or set it beside the other Maison Margiela fragrances and niche perfumes in the same category, and the rum and tobacco come up as the signature.

Most people just say Jazz Club rather than the full Maison Margiela Replica name, and it is the fragrance that most of the market's Maison Margiela perfume dupes and alternatives are chasing. It is often called unisex, though it leans a little more masculine on most skin, with a soft, feminine warmth underneath from the vanilla.

Why choose us?

Smooth Jazz is our affordable alternative to Jazz Club, our own blend filled by hand in small batches, keeping that boozy rum warmth and vanilla base intact. It is built around the rum and clary sage of the middle notes, with pink pepper up top and tobacco leaf in the base notes, the same structure that makes Jazz Club stand out among Maison Margiela's other fragrances.

It smells like Jazz Club from the first spray, which was always the point, and the rum-vanilla accord is what carries it there. We only make it as an eau de parfum, because that's where this kind of smoky, boozy composition holds together best. If it's not similar to what you remember, send it back within 15 days and we'll sort it out.
