🇫🇷 French Perfumes!😶‍🌫 Long Lasting and Intense Scents!👍 Fraction of the Cost of Designer Fragrances

PRODUCT DETAILS

50 ml, with around 20% fragrance oil, the same concentration across every scent we make. At €25 it is an affordable way into Creed's sandalwood style, with free shipping on orders from €49 and delivery in 2 to 5 working days.

Creed sells Original Santal as an eau de parfum, well short of an extrait de parfum in weight, and Indian Spirit matches that same strength. Projection is moderate through the day, closer to how most niche and luxury sandalwood fragrances behave than to a heavy, room-filling scent.

French fragrance oils, filled by hand, vegan and never tested on animals. Not for you? Indian Spirit can be exchanged within 15 days.

NOTES

Heart notes

Lavender, geranium, orange blossom, sandalwood

Base notes

Oakmoss, musk, tonka bean, cedar

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Indian Spirit is our perfume dupe of Creed Original Santal, a fragrance that opens spicy and closes soft and woody rather than sitting in one lane all day. It opens on ginger, juniper berries, bergamot, rosemary, coriander and mandarin, moves into a heart of lavender, geranium, orange blossom and sandalwood, and settles into oakmoss, musk, tonka bean and cedar.

The spiced citrus opening is sharp for the first twenty minutes, then the sandalwood and cedar take over and the whole accord turns creamy and warm. It is the kind of fragrance that keeps changing on skin rather than sitting flat, and it smells like the original from the first spray through to the woody drydown, one of the more convincing perfume dupes we make. Longevity runs six to nine hours, with sillage that stays present without being loud.

The ginger and rosemary from the opening linger longer than most spiced dupes allow, and the lavender sitting in the middle notes keeps surfacing well after the base notes have started to build. Ginger comes back every time the tonka bean warms up, and that back and forth between spice and tonka bean is what makes Indian Spirit read as a proper clone rather than a loose guess. Among our perfumes it is the one that sits closest to Creed's sandalwood style, and one of the perfumes we would hand to anyone new to woody scents.

Perfume concentration

EDT, EDP or EXDP - what you are actually buying

The difference between these labels is not quality but how much perfume oil sits in the bottle. That decides how long the scent stays on your skin and how far it travels.

EDT Eau de Toilette 5 to 15% perfume oil

The lightest of the three. It opens fresh and fast, but fades after three to five hours. Pleasant in heat and at the office, as long as you top it up during the day.

Our choiceEDP Eau de Parfum ~20% perfume oil

The middle ground that became the standard. It lasts six to eight hours, one spray in the morning is enough, and the scent stays recognisable into the evening without filling the room.

EXDP Extrait de Parfum 20 to 40% perfume oil

The densest form, worn in drops, and it can last over ten hours. In return it loses that easy opening, and the price per bottle climbs the most.

Why we chose EDP

Every Chez Pierre perfume is made in Eau de Parfum concentration, with 20% perfume oil. That is not by accident.

An eau de toilette would mean carrying the bottle with you and refreshing the scent after lunch. An extrait would push the price up, and only someone counting hours would notice the gain. EDP sits exactly in between: one spray in the morning carries the whole working day, and the scent opens and develops instead of settling on the skin at once.

So we don't make lighter and pricier versions of the same scent. We make one, in the concentration where that scent works best.

How a perfume is measured

Longevity, projection and sillage

Three things describe every perfume, whatever the price or the name on the bottle. Once you separate them, it is easier to say what you actually want from a scent.

01

Longevity

How many hours the scent stays on skin

Measured from the moment you spray to the moment you can no longer smell it up close. It depends on the concentration, but also on your skin: on dry skin every perfume lasts less, so a dab of unscented cream before spraying helps.

02

Projection

How far it travels around you

Strongest in the first hour, it tells you how much space the scent takes up. Big projection is great for evenings and colder days, while at the office or in a meeting it usually gets in the way more than it helps.

03

Sillage

The trail you leave behind

Pronounced „see-yazh“, it means the trail a scent leaves behind you. It is the reason someone turns around as you pass. A perfume can last a long time and still leave a small trail, and the other way round.

Strong is not the same as good. A perfume with huge projection quickly tires both you and the people around you, while one without any trail stays your own private thing.

That is why every one of our perfume descriptions says how it wears, not only how it smells.

Indian Spirit

Inspired by: Original Santal, Creed

Indian Spirit works best from autumn through winter and into spring, when the spice and woody base have something to push against, though the citrus opening keeps it wearable through summer too. It suits the office as easily as an evening out, since the trail stays close rather than filling a room. The spice notes calm down by evening, leaving the woody notes to carry the rest of the night.

Creed built Original Santal as a unisex scent, and Indian Spirit follows that lead. It reads more masculine than feminine on the first spray, though plenty of women wear it, so treat it as near-unisex and pick it for whoever likes the smell of it.

Choose our Inspiration

Creed is one of the oldest perfume houses in the business, tracing back to 1760, and it sits at the meeting point of designer recognition and niche exclusivity that serious fragrance fans respect. Original Santal has been part of the range for decades and remains one of the house's most requested sandalwood scents. The house built its name on notes that hold their shape for hours, and Original Santal's lavender-and-sandalwood mix is the clearest example still in the current lineup.

Most people just call it Original Santal rather than adding the Creed name, and it comes up constantly in any review of woody, unisex fragrances built around real sandalwood rather than synthetic substitutes.

Why choose us?

Indian Spirit is our alternative to Creed Original Santal. It is our own blend, made with French fragrance oils and filled by hand in small batches rather than run off a line like most high-street perfumes. We picked each of these notes to match Creed's original blend as closely as possible.

We only make it at that same strength, since that is the concentration the original uses and where this spiced sandalwood fragrance holds together longest. If it does not smell similar to what you remember, you have 15 days to send it back and exchange it.
