Creed sells Original Santal as an eau de parfum, well short of an extrait de parfum in weight, and Indian Spirit matches that same strength. Projection is moderate through the day, closer to how most niche and luxury sandalwood fragrances behave than to a heavy, room-filling scent.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Indian Spirit is our perfume dupe of Creed Original Santal, a fragrance that opens spicy and closes soft and woody rather than sitting in one lane all day. It opens on ginger, juniper berries, bergamot, rosemary, coriander and mandarin, moves into a heart of lavender, geranium, orange blossom and sandalwood, and settles into oakmoss, musk, tonka bean and cedar.

The spiced citrus opening is sharp for the first twenty minutes, then the sandalwood and cedar take over and the whole accord turns creamy and warm. It is the kind of fragrance that keeps changing on skin rather than sitting flat, and it smells like the original from the first spray through to the woody drydown, one of the more convincing perfume dupes we make. Longevity runs six to nine hours, with sillage that stays present without being loud.

The ginger and rosemary from the opening linger longer than most spiced dupes allow, and the lavender sitting in the middle notes keeps surfacing well after the base notes have started to build. Ginger comes back every time the tonka bean warms up, and that back and forth between spice and tonka bean is what makes Indian Spirit read as a proper clone rather than a loose guess. Among our perfumes it is the one that sits closest to Creed's sandalwood style, and one of the perfumes we would hand to anyone new to woody scents.

Nejlehčí ze tří. Otevírá se svěže a rychle, ale po třech až pěti hodinách mizí. Příjemná v horku i v kanceláři, pokud ji během dne osvěžíš.

Střed, který se stal standardem. Vydrží šest až osm hodin, stačí jedno stříknutí ráno a vůně zůstává rozpoznatelná až do večera, aniž by dusila místnost.

EXDP Extrait de Parfum 20 až 40% parfémového oleje

Nejhustší forma, nosí se po kapkách a dokáže vydržet i přes deset hodin. Na oplátku ztrácí lehkost v úvodu a cena za flakon stoupá ze všeho nejvíc.

Proč jsme zvolili EDP

Každý parfém Chez Pierre plníme v koncentraci Eau de Parfum, s 20% parfémového oleje. Není to náhoda.

Toaletní voda by znamenala nosit flakon s sebou a vůni odpoledne osvěžovat. Extrakt by zvedl cenu a zisk by poznal jen ten, kdo počítá hodiny. EDP stojí přesně mezi tím: jedno stříknutí ráno vydrží celý pracovní den a vůně se otevírá a rozvíjí, místo aby hned ulehla na kůži.

Proto neděláme lehčí a dražší verze stejné vůně. Děláme jednu, v koncentraci, ve které ta vůně funguje nejlépe.

Každý parfém popisují tři věci, bez ohledu na cenu a jméno na flakonu. Když je jednou oddělíš, snáz řekneš, co přesně od vůně chceš.

Výdrž

Kolik hodin vůně zůstane na kůži

Měří se od chvíle, kdy stříkneš, do chvíle, kdy ji zblízka už necítíš. Závisí na koncentraci, ale i na pokožce: na suché pokožce vydrží každý parfém kratší dobu, takže pomůže kapka neparfémovaného krému před stříknutím.

Projekce

Jak daleko se kolem tebe šíří

Nejsilnější je v první hodině a říká, kolik prostoru vůně zabírá. Velká projekce je skvělá na večer a chladnější dny, zatímco v kanceláři a na schůzce obvykle spíš vadí, než pomáhá.

Stopa, která zůstane, když projdeš

Vyslovuje se „sijáž“ a znamená stopu, kterou vůně nechá za tebou. Právě kvůli ní se někdo v průchodu otočí. Parfém může vydržet dlouho a přesto nechávat jen malou stopu, a naopak.

Indian Spirit works best from autumn through winter and into spring, when the spice and woody base have something to push against, though the citrus opening keeps it wearable through summer too. It suits the office as easily as an evening out, since the trail stays close rather than filling a room. The spice notes calm down by evening, leaving the woody notes to carry the rest of the night.

Creed built Original Santal as a unisex scent, and Indian Spirit follows that lead. It reads more masculine than feminine on the first spray, though plenty of women wear it, so treat it as near-unisex and pick it for whoever likes the smell of it.
