Maison Margiela launched By the Fireplace in 2015 as part of their Replica line, which is about bottling up specific moments in time. It became a favorite because it was unlike anything else. It’s warm, smoky, and slightly sweet; think chestnuts roasting with a hint of vanilla and burning wood.
Because By the Fireplace is so well-loved (and not cheap). We crafted Campfire, which aims to replicate that same smoky, sweet warmth without the high-end price tag. Now, does Campfire pull it off? Pretty much! You still get that toasty, slightly spicy, wood-smoked scent, but Campfire is slightly less refined in blending. The sweetness of this By The Fireplace dupe isn’t as creamy, and the smokiness can come off a bit sharper.
