Fortune Cookie — August

YOUR AUGUST FORTUNE COOKIE 🥠

WHAT AUGUST SMELLS LIKE

I told you in my email that for me, August can be two different months in a single day.

There's the midday one — hot, loud, all sun and plans. And the evening one, when the light changes and nostalgia catches you.

That's why there isn't one list here. There are two.

☀️ WHILE THE LIGHT LASTS

The one that still won't admit summer has an end.

A FUN FACT ABOUT AUGUST

August is the only month named after someone's luck.

It used to be called Sextilis — simply "the sixth" in the old Roman calendar.

Then the senate renamed it in honor of Emperor Augustus — not because he was born then, but because all the luckiest things in his life happened in that very month.

His first consulship, three triumphs, the end of the civil wars — all within the same thirty-one days.

Will August bring us that kind of luck too?

Let it follow you through the whole month.
A message, and a scent.
